Red Velvet media Talks to Side FX

Kim Cameron and the SideFX band offer an eclectic blend of pop, rock and jazz into a smooth, groovy listening experience. Think Carly Simon with an attitude. The group launched their first album, Contradictions in the September 2008. Combining a fresh, genre-shifting sound with inspired and deeply personal lyrics, every song in the album is wrapped around a personal experience of lead singer/songwriter, Kim Cameron. Gaining popularity quickly throughout the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, MD area, SideFX offers an alternative sound that is all their own. The SideFX band officially came together in 2007 when they began expanding their basement jamming sessions to local restaurants, benefits and venues. In April 2007, Kim Cameron was inspired to write the songs in Contradictions after her brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. Writing songs became a positive outlet for expressing how much he had made an impact on her life. “My goal with writing and singing is to help take people away from a frustrating day or sad place and bring them back home – and home is not a location, but rather a place that you can feel grounded and safe,” says Kim. The album name Contradictions carries hidden meanings. It represents the clash between the upbeat sounds and the lyrical content and the album’s lack of a fixed genre. For Kim, the true contradiction is: “What you see is not always what you get. Inside all of us are some hidden truths or talents that are often overlooked.” A gift for storytelling makes each song by Kim Cameron an unraveling tale that effortlessly connects the listener with the music. Her lyrics speak to life’s journey, exploring emotional relationships and drawing strength from life experiences. The songs reveal a surprising depth—from lyrics about disillusioned troops (“My Hero”), to the temptations of a budding romance (“Come a Little Closer”), to an intimate portrait of a trapped woman who would “rather hide under MySpace eyes”

Red Velvet Media talks to Tab the band! (Adrian Perry &Tony Perry)

A rock & roll band with an enduring fondness for pure pop and a wicked, sly sense of humor, TAB the Band defy easy categorization. They may love the Beatles and Cheap Trick as much as T-Rex and the Rolling Stones, but TAB aren’t classic rockers; they’re a vibrant, contemporary band that blends the vigor of punk, the might of arena rock and the melodicism of power-pop, earning the admiration of Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, alt-rock stalwarts who requested TAB The Band as their opening act. TAB The Band’s full range can be heard on Zoo Noises (released Jan. 26, 2010), a freewheeling, all-encompassing carnival ride, fueled by such intoxicating singles as the percussive “She Said No (I Love You)” and the breakneck hooks of “Bought and Sold.” TAB The Band may be the best example of how great things can come from no expectations. Brothers Adrian and Tony Perry, sons of Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, began the group almost as a lark. “I grew up in LA,” explains Adrian, “and whenever I came to visit Tony, we’d always record stuff for fun.” Adrian had a few serious bands while he was in high school and college, continuing to occasionally play with Tony. “Around Christmas break in 2006 we said, let’s mess around and make some songs,” remembers Adrian. "Tony invited his friend Ben Tileston to have real drum tracks. We ended up writing nine songs in a week -- it was very organic. Before we knew it, we had a show booked.”

John Lennons Birthday Gary Tillery The Cynical Idealist: A Spiritual Biography of John lennon

"It’s quite possible to do anything, but not if you put it on the leaders. You have to do it yourself. That’s what the great masters and mistresses have been saying since time began. They can point the way, leave signposts and little instructions in various books—the instructions are all there for all to see. I can’t wake you up; you can wake you up. I can’t cure you; you can cure you." —John Lennon In The Cynical Idealist: A Spiritual Biography of John Lennon, author Gary Tillery brings readers the first spiritual and intellectual biography of this seminal musical and cultural figure. Much has been said about John Lennon the Beatle—his rock star evolution and tragic fate. More than a mundane, temporal biography covering Lennon’s life, music, and death, The Cynical Idealist is a soulful portrait of John Lennon’s very being, illuminating the spiritual transformation of a man who influenced the world in a way few others had during the course of the twentieth century. The world could not ignore something extraordinary in Lennon. What was it that set Lennon apart from his fellow bandmates, causing the media to label him the "intellectual" of the group? John Lennon’s spiritual death and rebirth crystallized a global anthem of planetary peace and love that transcends labels, dogma, and social expectations, offering the gift of hope for the coming generation. Praised and ridiculed in equal measure, investigated by the FBI, hounded by the media and ultimately assassinated, Britain’s “Man of the Decade” ignited a revolution of our consciousness. This extraordinary figure deserves an extraordinary book and, in The Cynical Idealist, Tillery provides readers with a new and fascinating framework for assessing Lennon’s life and works.

Holly Stephey of Red Velvet Media goes wild with Ragin Cajun & The food network!

Join Holly of Red Velvet Media as she talks to old friend and owner of Ragin Cajun Stephen Domingue. *Stephen is involved in a fun project with the food network. *Please see the press release below in the blog:))) The Ragin Cajun Cafe opened in 1992, in beautiful Hermosa Beach, California. It was founded by Stephen Domingue, originally from Cajun country, Lafayette, Louisiana. When he moved to Southern California in 1987, Steve missed the one-of-a-kind cooking he had grown to love back home. Realizing that no authentic Cajun restaurants existed in Southern California, Steve hit upon the idea of bringing the unmatchable taste of fine Cajun cuisine to theL.A. area. Quickly, he preparedsome of his mother’s own Cajun specialties and began previewing them at local foodfestivals. These "practice runs" were a huge success, and just about everyone who sampled the delicious food asked, "Where’s the restaurant located?" The response confirmed what Steven knew: the time was perfect to make the Ragin Cajun a reality. The restaurant opened in April of 1992, with an original seating capacity of 36 patrons. Using the food as its own advertisement, Steven and the other employees passed out free food samples to the beach-going crowd walking on the boardwalk. Before he knew it, Stephen had a 45-minute waiting line of eager customers stretching down the sidewalk. By December of that year, the original Ragin Cajun Cafe had been selected by the local paper as the Best Cajun Restaurant in the area – the Ragin Cajun craze had begun. Now, five years later, Stephen and the Ragin Cajun team keep the menu items limited to only the best, most authentic Cajun dishes, as they continue with their mission to bring the best of Cajun cuisine to more and more people. And every night, the line continues to form on the boardwalk at Hermosa Beach.

Red Velvet Media talks to City Winery in NYC NYC Hot Spots

Join Red velvet Media as we talk to City winery Shlomo Lipetz he lives and breathes for music and works hard to bring interesting, diverse and exceptional talent to City Winery's stage. City Winery is the brainchild of Michael Dorf, founder of the iconic Knitting Factory, who wanted to create a space in Manhattan where he could combine his shared passions for wine and music. After making his first barrel of wine in California with his brother Josh and wine maker David Tate, formally of Ridge Winery and now at Barnett Vineyards, Michael caught the bug: "For a long time I'd been enjoying wine as a fan-drinking it, taking classes, attending wine dinners-but it was not until I actually started participating in the process of working with the grape, turning it into wine, putting it into a bottle, and watching it develop over time, that I really started to understand wine. It was this experience that led Michael to conceptualize and start working on the City Winery business plan in 2006. The core target audience of City Winery-urban wine enthusiasts who desire the experience of making their own wine, but who are not going to leave their comfortable Manhattan lifestyle to decamp to a vineyard-immediately became clear. Beyond making wine, Michael also wanted to focus on the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from sharing wine with friends, and to capture the unique social bond that occurs when communities of like-minded people gather over a bottle of quality Cabernet, while dining on a freshly-prepared meal and listening to their favorite artists perform. That is what City Winery is about community, creativity and culture. A vibrant, interactive space in New York where folks can not only make wine, but also meet friends new and old while indulging their passion for quality food, music, art and life. To all who enter, L'Chaim.
