Holly Stephey Talks to Jeffrey Appling (Rings that rock!)

Just as the painter/artist communicates their art form with colorful pigments applied to canvas, Jeffrey's colorful medium is Mother Nature’s finest and brightest colored gemstones. My unique art form is both exotic and daring, lending each piece to be strategically fashioned for optimum visibility and comfort while utilizing precision artistry. Jeffery says I have an enthusiastic and everlasting drive to make sure my designs help women stand out as individuals and express their life’s enjoyments freely. The museum quality masterpieces I assemble are at the forefront of expressionism in the highest order. Every colorful creation is geared to attract attention while creating excitement for the wearer and for the admirer. The “Bigger than Life” passionate designs stem from my diverse background as an Art Historian, Gemologist, Jewelry Appraiser, Gem Cutter, and my typical love for living in the moment. My fashion forward original designs are intended to supersede most outdated thought processes, providing an outlet for expressionism, ultimately leading to heartfelt visual communication. The high impact wearable art I create transcends a powerful feeling of emotion while authenticating every single masterpiece as a premier jewelry design of tomorrow. Comfort, balance, and “Wide-Eyed Amazement” are the key ingredients I provide for each Extreme Design. The lack of using unsightly and annoying prong work allows my work to be repair free for decades to come and enables a higher degree of active wear without the discomfort of catching on fabrics. The fluid collaboration between the gemstones and metal enables a harmonious presence, thus validating the materials used were meant for one another. The extreme jewelry artist cares little about the initial purpose of the piece and is focused on the realization of what could be!

Holly Stephey talkes to Rod Fritz of Red Planet!

Rod Fritz is half way through his 3rd album. With four more songs to record and a final mix and master to be performed on all songs the project will finally be complete. Generally he write songs that affect him. Songs such as “Nothing good happens anymore”, “Green Grass” and “Superman Song” were written because of what I see happening around me especially the content of today’s media. I find it disturbing and have a feeling of unease when so much negative information is portrayed in such a vast manner. I am in fact a genuinely happy person who needs to moderate how much negativity I am willing to be subjected too. I also write from personal experience especially when it pertains to matters of the heart. My songs are generally simple three cord progressions and my melodies are generally achieved by repeating those chords until something pops into my head. I also find that I am prolific in my song writing and will in fact write 10 songs for every one I decide to keep. Unfortunately those that do get discarded are generally lost over time and irretrievable. I record my songs with a group of people I have known for quite some time. Recording is a fairly simple process involving me to present my song, on the night, to the group and then essentially jamming a few times to get a particular type of groove, having a discussion about certain ideas and then simply hitting the record button. I sing and play acoustic in the same room with the bass player whilst the drummer has a separate room and the lead guitarist sets his amp in the hallway and plays whist operating the console as well. Unfortunately this does not leave much room for fixing any errors that may occur. I tend to find this way I retain the essence of the song for which it was originally intended. I also like the raw, live sound and pride myself on the fact that the songs sort of work without the need for any effects.

Holly Stephey & Tab The Band on Tour!

A rock & roll band with an enduring fondness for pure pop and a wicked, sly sense of humor, TAB the Band defy easy categorization. They may love the Beatles and Cheap Trick as much as T-Rex and the Rolling Stones, but TAB aren’t classic rockers; they’re a vibrant, contemporary band that blends the vigor of punk, the might of arena rock and the melodicism of power-pop, earning the admiration of Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, alt-rock stalwarts who requested TAB The Band as their opening act. TAB The Band’s full range can be heard on Zoo Noises (released Jan. 26, 2010), a freewheeling, all-encompassing carnival ride, fueled by such intoxicating singles as the percussive “She Said No (I Love You)” and the breakneck hooks of “Bought and Sold.” TAB The Band may be the best example of how great things can come from no expectations. Brothers Adrian and Tony Perry, sons of Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, began the group almost as a lark. “I grew up in LA,” explains Adrian, “and whenever I came to visit Tony, we’d always record stuff for fun.” Adrian had a few serious bands while he was in high school and college, continuing to occasionally play with Tony. “Around Christmas break in 2006 we said, let’s mess around and make some songs,” remembers Adrian. "Tony invited his friend Ben Tileston to have real drum tracks. We ended up writing nine songs in a week -- it was very organic. Before we knew it, we had a show booked.”

A Dose of Rock and Roll with Nancy Lee Andrews And Holly Stephey

Nancy Lee Andrews is another of those great Jersey Girls (like Beatles artist Shannon) who went to college at N.Y.U. It was Milton Green who recognized that Nancy had a desire to be on the other side of the camera and got her started as a photographer. Encouraged by former Beatle, Ringo Starr, with whom she shared her life for six years (1974-1980), Nancy began shooting fashion assignments for designer boutiques along Rodeo Drive and trendy Melrose Avenue. She branched quickly into the music business, snapping photos of legendary artists such as George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Band, Keith Moon, Ted Nugent, Carl Perkins, Edgar Winter, Bernie Taupin, Greg and Duane Allman, Leon Russell, Glen Campbell, Donovan, Carl Radle (of Derek and the Dominos and Nancy’s first boyfriend) Arlo Guthrie, Dr. John, Ron Wood, Hoyt Axton, Harry Nilsson, Sonny Bono, Engelbert Humperdinck and Dolly Parton. Nancy published a book of her photographs in September of 2008 called “A Dose of Rock and Roll”. Holly Stephey Talks about PrivacyStar and Jeff Stalnaker, CEO & President First Orion Corp

First Orion, a corporation with a significant intellectual property portfolio dedicated to phone privacy and preference, have an app known as PrivacyStar™ application for BlackBerry® smartphones. PrivacyStar can be downloaded by visiting www.PrivacyStar.com. PrivacyStar will be available via other smartphones and telephone carriers beginning early next year. PrivacyStar is a simple-to-use yet powerful privacy app that enables users to take complete control of their phones by reporting potential telemarketing violators to regulatory enforcement authorities, blocking any and all unwanted callers, using Caller Lookup to identify unknown callers and providing the flexibility to change their privacy preferences directly on the BlackBerry or on their own synchronized personal web portal account. The new PrivacyStar app is the first and only mobile privacy app that helps authorities identify and locate potential telemarketing violators. PrivacyStar captures detailed information about possible violations including date, time, number and identity and allows the user to provide this information to law enforcement authorities for investigation. “While federal and state Do Not Call programs have been successful, we believe that millions of unwanted calls and telemarketing violations occur each day in the United States,” said Jeff Stalnaker, president of First Orion. “A major contributor to this problem is the inability to identify and quickly shut down violators. PrivacyStar not only empowers callers to immediately decide who can no longer call them, it also provides regulatory agencies with new capabilities to identify and shut down the worst violators. Another very popular feature offered by PrivacyStar is the Caller Look-up feature that allows users to find the name associated with a phone number with a simple keystroke.”

Red Velvet Media talks to Chris Frantz (Tom Tom Club!)

Originally established as a side project from Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club comprised a loose aggregation of musicians, sound engineers and artists of the Compass Point All Stars family, including Tina Weymouth's sisters and guitarist Adrian Belew, the latter of whom toured with Weymouth and Frantz in the expanded version of Talking Heads in 1980 and 1981. In 1991, Frantz and Tina Weymouth built the Clubhouse, a painting and music studio, over their garage near Gamecock Island, Connecticut. In 1992 they released the fourth Tom Tom Club album, Dark Sneak Love Action, which included a cover of Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing". The album focused on the burgeoning techno-music scene. A single, "Sunshine & Ecstasy," featured remixes by Roger Sanchez. The group's next album, The Good, the Bad, and the Funky, was released in 2000 and featured cover versions of Donna Summer's "Love to Love You, Baby" and Lee Perry's "Soul Fire". One of the album's tracks, "Who Feelin' It", was also featured in remixed form in the soundtrack album of the 1999 film American Psycho. Among the musicians on The Good the Bad and the Funky are Jamaican singer Mystic Bowie, Pettigrew and Toots of Toots & the Maytals. The album's release was followed by one European, and several American, tours. In 2002, Frantz and Tina Weymouth, along with their former Talking Heads bandmates, were inducted at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. In 2007, the band released a special Christmas single called "Mistletunes", containing two specially recorded Christmas songs: "Il est Ne" and "Christmas in the Club", which features Mystic Bowie and scratcher/turntableist Kid Ginseng .

The Spies and Red Velvet Media !

Los Angeles based band, The Spies have been perfecting their brand of indie-pop for five years. With two self-released albums (Old Ghosts 2007 and Televolution 2009), two music videos, one national tour, and multiple song placements in Film and TV (CW, FOX, ABC) the band has been building a very loyal fan base since 2006. Conceived as collaboration between longtime friends, The Spies have evolved into much more as their career has progressed. In 2001 and 2002 respectively, Mark Matkevich and Leo Francis moved from their native Philadelphia to Los Angeles to pursue acting, music, and warmer weather. The two decided to start a new project together and immediately began collaborating on all new material. In late 2005, after months of playing out as a two-piece (Mark on keys, Leo on guitars) in small venues and coffee shops, the two began to look for a permanent bass player. Shortly thereafter, Adrian Barrio auditioned for the band. Adrian’s driving melodic bass-lines became a backbone of the band’s sound, and with the addition of Dylan Giagni's unrelenting and aggressive style of drumming, The Spies completed their signature sound. With the band’s live show in top form, The Spies are constantly winning over new fans with infectiously catchy rock performed at high-intensity. The music they create pays homage to their influences while still sounding completely original. It has its’ roots in blues and rock and roll, weaving them together in melodic lines that make the music feel almost familiar and easily relatable. The Spies’ music “will please fans of rootsy-rockers like, Wilco and Elvis Costello” and the band “…range from ultimate Pop/Rock dynamos to melancholy wordsmiths and back.” With new music and plenty of new shows on the horizon, it’s a good time to become a fan of The Spies.
