Jim Marshall, The legacy continues !

Join Holly Stephey as she talks to Amelia Davis about Jim Marshall and Award Winning Documentary ~"Show Me The Picture: The Story Of Jim Marshall" A master lensman with an all-access pass to the musicians, music, and seminal events that defined the Sixties’ counterculture and social movements, Jim Marshall is a legend. The award-winning documentary Show Me The Picture: The Story of Jim Marshall recounts the photographer’s colorful life behind and in front of the camera. A child of immigrants, Marshall had an innate curiosity about the people and the social issues dominating the latter half of the 20th century. And he had incredible timing, capturing decisive moments of some of the most iconic figures in music history: among them, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and Miles Davis. Throughout his groundbreaking career, Marshall crossed boundaries to record an extraordinary period of history. His images of protest, civil unrest, and poverty, along with his stunning photography of the American jazz scene, San Francisco’s Summer of Love, and the early New York folk scene, are powerful. His famously, or infamously, abrasive but honest approach, combined with an incredible skill to build trust, allowed Marshall exceptional access to his subjects and enabled him to expand his portfolio beyond celebrities, to document history across the ages. In 2014, four years after his death, Marshall was honored with the Recording Academy’s Trustees Award  from the Recording Academy, for his contribution to chronicling music history. Today, Jim Marshall’s artistry is celebrated worldwide. Touring exhibits of his photographs across the US and Europe have brought in new fans and collectors of his indelibly iconic images.Amelia Davis, owner of Jim Marshall Photography LLC, was the longtime personal assistant to legendary photographer Jim Marshall.

Too often, young people are influenced by the thoughts and life experiences of singers and musicians who are in their late teens and their 20’s. It's time to give young people an alternative to these messages. In addition to a passion for music, each girl in the group also has a social cause that they represent like advocating for better education for girls all around the world, youth homelessness, give peace a chance, mental health support and awareness, or all of us taking better care of our health through the foods that we eat.Girl Pow-R was symbolically formed on International Women’s Day in 2017

Composer/guitarist/rapper/Di.J./producer Gene Pritsker

Composer/guitarist/rapper/Di.J./producer Gene Pritsker has written over seven hundred compositions, all of his compositions employ an eclectic spectrum of styles and are influenced by his studies of various musical cultures. He is the founder and leader of Sound Liberation; an eclectic hip hop-chamber-jazz-rock-etc. ensemble and co-director of Composers' Concordance and Eclectic Music eXtravaganza. Gene's music has been performed all over the world by many ensembles and performers. He has worked closely with modern jazz great Joe Zawinul and has orchestrated major Hollywood movies, Including 'Cloud Atlas', for which he also composed his ''Cloud Atlas Symphony’. The New York Times: "audacious...multitalented." The Music Connoisseur: ”dissolving the artificial boundaries between high brow, low brow, classical, popular musics and elevates the idea that if it's done well it is great music, regardless of the style or genre". Raul DaGma writes in his article ‘Gene Pritsker: Varieties Of Musical Experience’: "Gene Pritsker is a modernist at heart. If there is something new to be said to describe an old form or even a formless old thing – as old as yesterday, that is – this extraordinary musician will be among the first to say it…All of his music is of the highest quality, audacious and witty, joyous and elevated, and incomparable to anything written and recorded. In all of this Gene Pritsker has created a singular vocabulary, spoken not only by someone deeply schooled in music, but also in history, theology and philosophy."
