David Godlis ,New Book photographs, Rock & Roll, Punk 'History is Made at Night'

David Godlis couldn’t believe it the night that Robert Frank walked into CBGB.“I was hanging out around the door and I thought, oh my god, that’s Robert Frank,” he says. “For me, that was the biggest thing that could happen, because I had studied photography and he was one of my idols.”Godlis says that from the moment he walked into CBGB, which was soon after he arrived in New York, he started thinking about doing a photo book. His inspiration was Brassai’s black-and-white photographs of Paris’s nightlife in the 1930s. “I thought, this place is so crazy and so cool, I should be taking pictures here, even though I’m a street photographer who shoots with natural light during the day. I wondered if I could be a street photographer shooting by natural light at night.”More than 35 years later, his book about CBGB, History Is Made at Night: Photographs 1976-1979, is finally here. Godlis showed the work to publishers over the years, but no one was interested in the grainy images, shot with long exposures instead of flash. “Punk photography was all flash, and this wasn’t,” he says. “And it wasn’t really a music book either, so they didn’t know what to do with it.”In the new book’s introduction, filmmaker Jim Jarmusch notes that night people are different from those who prefer the clarity of day. “At night the edges lose definition,” he writes. “In the city every corner or recess, doorway or alley becomes mysterious, alive with a constantly shifting variety of possibilities. One must be ready for them. Living at night requires imagination. In NYC in 1976 it was necessary just for survival. ”Godlis survived to tell the tale . One day something is old news and the next it’s legend. Sometimes success means waiting long enough to be on the right side of history.

Vera Ramone King , Poisoned Heart: I Married Dee Dee Ramone (The Ramones Years)

Join Vera Ramone King as she talks about new book " Poisoned Heart: I Married Dee Dee Ramone (The Ramones Years)" Vera was married to the legendary punk rocker and they were often referred to as "Punk Rocks Royal Couple". Vera and Dee Dee, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and Grammy Award Winner of the Ramones were married from 1978 to 1995. Vera toured extensively with the Ramones living the punk era first hand.  Often regarded as the first punk-rock group ever, named one of Rolling Stone magazine's Top 50 Bands of All Time, with all members having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Ramones are nothing if not legendary. Waking up the neighbors and setting the U.S. music scene on fire in the 1970s and through the '80s, The Ramones' story is tragic and raw, sentiments that could also describe the band's songwriter, bass player, and unsung genius, Dee Dee. A wild ride into the heart and soul of New York City, Poisoned Heart is Vera Ramones King's last testament to her former husband, who shocked the world when he died in 2002 of a drug overdose despite having been clean for years.  Dee Dee defined the punk-rock lifestyle. He was a rash, often violent heroin addict, and no one better understood his twisted mentality, or insanity, than faithful wife Vera. But Vera, herself a less destructive Nancy to Dee Dee's Sid also came to know the Dee Dee that music fans worldwide held near and dear: a generous, loving man who had a soft spot for bums, who grew up in the tough streets of Queens, who never stopped working, writing, and performing, who often treated his wife like a Punk Rock Princess, and whose greatest joy was the look on his fans' faces as he played them a song.

Simon Kirke, Bad Company and new solo record, "All Because of You"

Born and raised in London, Simon landed a gig with a group called the Black Cat Bones. The drummer befriended the group's talented guitarist, Paul Kossoff, who in turn convinced Simon to leave the group with him and begin a new outfit with singer Paul Rodgers. Soon ex-John Mayall's Bluesbreakers bassist Andy Fraser signed on and Free was officially formed in 1968. Mixing blues with hard rock, the group would prove to be quite influential, especially on the strength of their classic Fire and Water, "All Right Now." When the band broke up, it didn't take Simon long to find another gig, joining Paul Rodgers in a new band, Bad Company. Joined by ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell and ex-Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, Bad Company was the first group signed to Led Zeppelin's record label, Swan Song. Their debut album, 1974's Bad Company, would go on to become one of hard rock's all-time classics, as it birthed such long-standing rock radio standards as "Can't Get Enough," "Ready for Love," and the title track, written by Paul and Simon himself.  Simon Kirke is the only member of Bad Company who’s been in every lineup of the band.In addition to his work with Free and Bad Company, Simon has “guested” on a long list of recordings by other artists including Wilson Pickett, Faces, Gov’t Mule, Jim Capaldi and Ron Wood, among countless others and he is often found drumming live on tour with acts like Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band. Simon just finished his latest solo record, "All Because of You," to be released on BMG Records in 2016. Carmine Appice, Stick it - My Life of Sex, Drums, and Rock 'N' Roll!

As drummer for Vanilla Fudge, Carmine Appice set the grooves for the groundbreaking band’s 1967 psychedelic debut, inadvertently inventing Stoner Rock in the process.  With Mark Stein’s mysterioso wash of Grand Guignol keyboard theatrics, Tim Bogert’s amazing and trippy bass runs, and guitarist Vince Martell’s era-happy soloing, Appice boomed like no other drummer in rock history. Bobby Rydell TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS: A Tale of Second Chances

At 17, Bobby Rydell was the toast of American Bandstand - the kid from Italian South Philly with the smoothest voice, the highest pompadour, and the sweetest smile. And there were those hits: "Wild One," "Volare," and "Forget Him," to name a few. He was far more than just a teen idol. Bobby's voice and boy next door charm earned him a spot singing, acting, and dancing with Ann-Margret in the hit film Bye Bye Birdie. His phrasing and musicianship prompted Frank Sinatra to anoint him as his favorite young singer, and his comedic talents made him a nighttime fixture during the golden age of TV variety shows.Bobby Rydell's career spans six decades and encompasses every area of the entertainment world. His debut in the late '50s as a rock and roll teen idol lead to starring roles in such hit films as "Bye Bye Birdie" and plays such as "West Side Story." Bobby has made countless network TV appearances throughout the world on shows like Ed Sullivan, Jack Benny, George Burns, Milton Berle, Perry Como and of course American Bandstand. He was also a semi-regular on The Red Skelton Hour for many years. Working with the "greats" of comedy, Bobby was able to develop an uncanny comedic gift.TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS is just one aspect further confirming Rydell's still explosive career. Aside from continuing to tour around the world as a "saloon swingin'" solo artist and with fellow South Philly "Golden Boys" Frankie Avalon and Fabian in a road show with over 30 years of staying power, Rydell will be gracing the silver screen next year in Taylor Hackford's The Comedian with Robert De Niro .TEEN IDOL ON THE ROCKS is available NOW at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and book stores throughout America. Peppy Castro Blues Magoos New Release" Psychedelic Resurrection"

So many years have passed,” sing the Blues Magoos on the title track to Psychedelic Resurrection, their first new studio album in four decades. “But now we’re back and on this journey. ” The legendary psychedelic band from the Bronx, have returned with the release scheduled for October 14 on Kayos. Original members, lead vocalist/keyboardist Ralph Scala and vocalist/guitarist Peppy Castro, along with drummer Geoff Daking, who joined prior to the recording of the band’s hit debut album, Psychedelic Lollipop, were joined by newest additions, Mike Ciliberto on guitar and Peter Stuart Kohman on bass. The album also features cameos by original bassist Ronnie Gilbert and lead guitarist Mike Esposito, who also became part of the band before releasing their debut album, which went to #21 on the Billboard Top 200, thanks to the massive Top 5 single, “(We Ain’t Got Nothin’ Yet),” re-recorded for the new album.“Being a Blues Magoo is like taping into my childhood. Rock till we Drop!” states Castro. “This is what we do/We’ll take you in a new direction,” Scala promises on Psychedelic Resurrection, and it is both a reminder of where they came from and a bold step into reclaiming a classic garage-punk-rock sound that has been imitated by everyone from the White Stripes and the Black Keys to Ty Segall and Parquet Courts. The Blues Magoos’ November 1966 debut album represented a landmark of the kind of garage punk that anticipated bands like Television and the Ramones, with the band’s cover of John D. Loudermilk’s “Tobacco Road” included on Lenny Kaye’s original, influential 1972 Nuggets album, and their “We Ain’t Got Nothin’ Yet” as part of the 1998 re-issue.

NEW YORK JUNK Punk-Rock with real emotions.Puttin’ the soul back into The City!

“If you loved the vulnerable songwriting soul of Johnny Thunders, but not his armies of silly, clownish imitators, with their jack-off hammer-on solos and Nikki Sixx hair-do’s, and compulsory, make-believe, drug-problems, NEW YORK JUNK are still makin’ the style of raunchy, thoughtful, raucous, gutter punk, with real emotions, that we always duff our crumpled, pink fedoras to. If you prefer Iggy and Lou Reed To Adam Bomb and Vinnie Vincent, Joe Sztabnik is your main-man. Others may have puffs of pink smoke and purple polka dotted blouses. NEW YORK JUNK got soul, perspective, honesty, a point of view. Joe Sztabnik may have been friends with all the good ole geezers of The Lower East Side’s Past, but what makes him special, in addition to his outstanding musicianship; he’s a bastion of guitar, is that he’s his own dude. He’s a sovereign, authentic, unflinching storyteller, clearly reveling in a hard-earned sense of freedom. His songs possess a survivor’s depth and maturity that the die young crowd never got to achieve. NEW YORK JUNK are doing it their way, sayin’ their own thing, and that’s so rare, with all the gimmicky joke bands and sarcastic social climbing, ironic hipsters. It ain’t no put-on with Cynthia and Joe, they are just effortlessly eminating genuine coolness and giving consolation, inspiration, comfort, and courage to loads of us scattered punk-rock die-hards and culture-war refugees. It’s not something they do, it’s something they are. Just by playin’ out, writing real songs, being themselves, they’re lifting the whole standard. Just a tiny light is stronger than oceans of inky-black darkness. NEW YORK JUNK are puttin’ the soul back into The City. REMINDING people.” Sugarbuzz Magazine

Gene Cornish, The Young Rascals and so much more .

Born in 1944, in Ottawa, Canada, Cornish came into the world with music in his blood. His mother, Ada, was a singer for Big Bands, including those led by Woody Herman and Ozzie Nelson. By 1959, he was 15 and had earned a reputation as a talented guitarist. By then, he was fronting his own band, Gene Cornish & The Satelites, with boyhood friend, Pat Proietti. While attending Ben Franklin High School, he started a vocal group called The Nobles, and eventually put out a few records under his own name. In 1964, he moved to New York City and was doing double duty in Joey Dee & The Starliters, and his own group, The Unbeatables. The Unbeatables had a novelty hit with a Cornish song called “I Wanna Be A Beatle.” but lasted only a year. It was in the Starliters that Cornish met singer and keyboard player Felix Cavaliere, and singer Eddie Brigati. All three left to form The Young Rascals with drummer Dino Danelli. After a short few months playing the NY club scene, the explosive R&B flavored rock band was signed by Atlantic Records. They soon became known as one of the best live bands in America. Before 1965 was over, the group would start releasing a string of hit songs that would continue for six years. Brigati left in 1970, and Cornish followed in 1971. The remaining Rascals went in a jazz rock direction, but Cornish stayed true to his love of rock and roll. He re-emerged in 1973, with Dino Danelli in a band called Bulldog, and the pair remained together through a second rock band, called Fotomaker. The Rascals reunited for one tour in 1988. In 1997, were inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Gene Cornish reunited with the other 3 Rascals in 2010 for a star-studded benefit show. In 2013, Cornish a full-blown Rascals reunion finally happened. Gene participated (with the original Rascals line up) in the acclaimed stage production: The Rascals- Once Upon A Dream, which toured North America after a sold out run on Broadway.

I have also been a business owner for over 40 years, and I have worked with people from all around the world . I am self-taught and diversified in every aspect of my manufacturing business. I had to learn it all, from the ground up. I have interfaced with companies that were just starting out in business to some of the largest mega-corporations in the world. One of the greatest rewards for me over the years was working with hundreds of loyal employees and thousands of clients. Every day brought a new challenge, and I was there, not only with an open ear but with an open heart. It is through these experiences that I had discovered that my passion was to work with others; and help bring balance, clarity, and harmony into their lives. I made the choice to take my life into a new direction and follow my passion. I became a Holistic Life Coach, and earned my Ph.D. in Philosophy, and I am an Ordained Reverend.
