Holly Stephey & James A. Mitchell, The Walrus And The Elephants John Lennon

*The Walrus and the Elephants: John Lennon's Years of Revolution, James A. Mitchell. In late 1971 John Lennon left London and pop stardom behind and moved to New York City, eager to join a youth movement rallying for social justice and an end to the Vietnam War. Lennon was embraced by radicals and revolutionaries, the hippies and Yippies at odds with the establishment. Settling in Greenwich Village, the former Beatle was soon on the front lines of the antiwar movement, championing causes and inspiring solidarity—and suspicion. Seen as a savior by a generation in need of cultural heroes, Lennon was just as passionately hounded by a government anxious to silence enemies within its borders. The Walrus and the Elephants is told by the unlikely cast of friends, among them the members of Elephant's Memory, who were some of the few who got to know the man behind the Beatle. Exclusive interviews include writer and feminist leader Gloria Steinem; Congressional Black Caucus cofounder Ron Dellums; "Chicago Seven" veteran Rennie Davis; immigration attorney Leon Wildes; and legendary poet-activist John Sinclair, whose imprisonment for marijuana—ten years for two joints—kicked off Lennon's American journey. It was a busy year of making music and controversial TV appearances, allies and enemies. It was a time of great change in America, one that saw the end of the movements of the sixties, the beginning of a new era. The Walrus and the Elephants is a look back at that time and at the John Lennon who joined the revolution, through the eyes of those who dreamed, rallied, and fought alongside him.

Holly Stephey talks to Jim Peterik about New Book "Through the Eye of the Tiger"

As the founding member of Survivor and co-writer of one of the most inspirational songs in rock history, Jim Peterik easily fits into the category of ‘rock star.’ But a closer look at Peterik’s life and career reveal that he is anything but your typical rock star. Forgoing a life of meaningless sex and drugs, Peterik married his high school sweetheart and focused on the music, becoming one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation. Here, for the first time, Peterik shares the stories behind his iconic songs?from touring with Led Zeppelin and Janis Joplin on the heels of the Ides of March number one classic ‘Vehicle’ to his Grammy-winning, triple platinum ‘Eye of the Tiger’ with Survivor and beyond. He explores the often torturous power struggles within the band contrasted by the giddy highs that accompany a trail of worldwide hits. Peterik has also co-written songs with some of the most famous bands and artists in rock-and-roll, including 38 Special (Rockin’ Into the Night, Caught Up In You, Hold On Loosely), Sammy Hagar (Heavy Metal), Brian Wilson, The Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, the platinum comeback of The Beach Boys (That’s Why God Made the Radio), and many more. Holly Stephey & Al Satterwhite New Book "The Secret of Muhammad Ali"

Al Satterwhite has shot commercials, features & award-winning feature shorts as Director/Cameraman. He is currently working on several book and museum projects. His newest Project "The Secret of Muhammad Ali" Three versions will be printed: the General Edition (expected retail: $75), the Collector's Limited Edition (expected retail: $150) and the Artist's Limited Edition(expected retail: $500). These will all be First Edition books. Only 700 books will be available in the numbered and signed limited editions. Anyone interested should reserve their copy now as they may not be available in the same format later, and they will not be First Edition. The few photos of mine that were published in the magazines were overshadowed by the actual fight photos…. which I never covered; and were soon forgotten. I photographed Ali again a couple years later in Los Angeles at a benefit track meet that he sponsored. He still remembered me. After that the negatives sat in my files until recently when I started looking at what I have photographed over the years. There are over 50 rolls of Tri-X from those early years. I have edited the contact sheets and chosen 200 iconic images to choose from for this project. This book will be done the way I want, showing off my images of Muhammad Ali the best way possible. It will become a collector's book due to the limited number of copies available, and if you are an Ali fan or just like really good photography, I guarantee, you will like this book. You only get one shot at a book like this and I intend to make it the best. A Fine Art Photography book of Al Satterwhite's photographs of Muhammad Ali preparing for his first two fights after being denied the right to box for nearly four years - featuring both his iconic and never-before-seen images.

Holly Stephey & Ed Kleinman Joint Venture, A Backstage Rock N' Roll Journey

Join Holly Stephey as she talks to Ed Kleinman who in his words "This is my journey from listening to the bands of the mid 1950's to working with bands in the 60's and 70's. It is filled with stories regarding musicians in a time where the music industry was changing as quickly as the social and political climate." Description One tells a story of days gone by. A flash of your history, a snapshot of an instant. Be it a minute, an hour, a day, or a year, it matters none. Something jogs your brain cells where past history is stored. You smile, and you think you have something worth telling.   *Ed Kleinman’s story chronicles his 18 years in the music industry from 1966 to 1984. He started as a part-time roadie making just enough money to buy cigarettes and put gas into his car. Eventually, he was able to hang out with musicians and tell lovely young ladies, “I’m with a band. You wanna meet one of ‘em?” It tells how he was able to form his own entertainment company until he left the business world of rock and roll. Those years brought a great deal of change to the music world and to all corners of society. The youth fought for equality for all, protested the Vietnam War and marched against it. The music got stronger, more political and more active in supporting change. The 18 years he had in the music industry helped him further his career and enrich his sales force development role. Join him as he reminisces and relives his rock and roll journey.

Holly Stephey Daryl Easlea Without Frontiers The Life and Music of Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel is one of rock music’s most active innovators. Between his Grammy- award-winning albums, social activism-based concerts, world music festivals, and his claim-to-fame band Genesis’s 2010 induction into the rock n’ roll hall of fame, Gabriel’s creative longevity is unquestionable. Author Daryl Easlea’s new biography, Without Frontiers: The Life and Music of Peter Gabriel illuminates this musical pioneer’s life and what inspires him. Daryl Easlea delves into the multi-talented Gabriel’s childhood, where he writes of young Gabriel’s influences, including his father who fostered his musical interest in everything from The Beatles to soul music. Gabriel began his musical career in the early 1970’s as the front man for Genesis, a band he created with fellow schoolmates. By 1975, citing the stress of being in the band and that Gabriel was newly married and with a baby, he set out on a solo career. Naming his first three albums after himself, he achieved moderate success with the singles “Solsbury Hill” and “Shock the Monkey.”  It wasn’t until Gabriel’s 1986 album, So, with the hits “Sledgehammer,” “Big Time,” and “In Your Eyes,” that he achieved commercial success. It was followed up five years later by the equally successful album US,  hits “Digging in the Dirt” and “Come Talk to Me” and as the author notes, is clearly the result of the singer’s personal struggles and years in therapy. Throughout Without Frontiers, Easlea weaves a beautiful biographical tapestry of Gabriel’s life. Quotes and interviews with friends and fellow musicians who were instrumental in Peter’s life help to chronicle the man and his immensely creative approach to his music.

Holly Stephey & Author/Journalist Ivor Davis, The Beatles and Me On Tour!

London-born Ivor Davis first came to America in the early sixties and was appointed West Coast correspondent for the  London Daily Express in l963.His first big assignment came the following year: to hang out, travel with and get to know the four members of a new pop group from Liverpool who were tearing up the world with their music: the Beatles. In the summer of 1964 The Beatles embarked on a record-breaking, pandemonium tour of America. This is the first chronicle of that tour told by someone on the inside: Ivor Davis, then a young reporter for the London Daily Express. For 34 days, he had unrestricted access to the four boys from Liverpool from their hotel suites to the concert arenas to their private jet, fending off girls’ (& their mothers’) attempts to hook up with the band, playing all-night games of Monopoly with John Lennon, ghostwriting a newspaper column for George Harrison, being there as Bob Dylan introduced them to pot. In The Beatles and Me On Tour, Davis recounts the rip-roaring adventures of the most legendary band at a critical moment in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. As a writer for the Express & the Times of London, Ivor covered major events in North America. He penned a weekly entertainment column for the New York Times Syndicate interviewing some of the biggest names in show business. He was a co-author of the l969 book Divided They Stand, which chronicled the Presidential election & witnessed some of the biggest trials in American history: Sirhan Sirhan, convicted of killing Bobby Kennedy , black-power militant Angela Davis, acquitted of murder in l972 Daniel Ellsberg’s trial for leaking the Pentagon Papers, Patty Hearst convicted of robbery after being kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army. He co-wrote Five to Die, the first book ever published about the Sharon Tate murders.

Red Velvet Media and Willie Nile New Music "American Ride "

Willie Nile is currently in the midst of a creative renaissance that’s produced some of the most compelling music of his 35-year career. The tradition continues with his CD American Ride. The CD is being released on Loud and Proud Records, where Nile becomes the first artist released under the label’s new deal with RED Distribution.“It’s pretty rockin’ over all, but there are some left turns and right turns along the way,” Nile says of the album, which was fan-funded through Pledgemusic.com. “There are songs about the rights of man, songs about freedom, songs about love and hate, songs about loss, songs about God and the absence of God, and songs about standing up for your fellow man. It’s upbeat and full of life. I’m thrilled with how it came out.”American Ride offers a bracing set of 11 original compositions, and one well-chosen cover, that rank with the catchiest and most vivid music that Nile’s ever delivered. From the everyday wisdom of “Life on Bleecker Street” and “Sunrise in New York City” to the broader observations of “This Is Our Time” and “Holy War” to the rock ’n’ roll abandon of “Say Hey” and the road-tripping title track. Several of American Ride’s recurring themes come into focus on the last two songs, “The Crossing” and “There’s No Place Like Home,” which end the album on a note of humanistic uplift. Another highlight is a fiery reading of Jim Carroll’s “People Who Died,” recorded as a tribute to both Carroll, who passed away in 2009, and to Nile’s late brother John. American Ride features backup from Nile’s live band guitarist Matt Hogan, bassist Johnny Pisano, drummer Alex Alexander, and Nile on guitar & piano guest appearances by Eagles’ guitarist Steuart and New York singer-songwriters James Maddock & Leslie Mendelson.

Holly Stephey & Nayaswami Asha internationally-known spiritual teacher!

Swami Asha has been a spiritual seeker since she was a young girl. In 1969 at Stanford University, she heard Swami Kriyananda speak for the first time. Instantly, she recognized him as her spiritual teacher. “I knew the moment he walked into the room that he possessed the consciousness I had long been seeking.”She soon became a founding member of the new community Swami was starting near Nevada City, California, called Ananda Village, based on Yogananda’s dream of world brotherhood colonies for “simple living and high thinking.”Swami Kriyananda placed Asha in the role of teaching and counseling soon after her arrival at Ananda. She also served as Swami's correspondence secretary and personal assistant for many years. In 1987, Swami Asha and her husband, Swami David, became spiritual directors of Ananda Palo Alto in California, where they continue to serve today. Swami Asha is author of Swami Kriyananda as We Have Known Him, a collection of more than 200 stories by people who have been touched by his teachings and spiritual friendship, often in remarkable ways. She is also author of Loved and Protected: Stories of Miracles and Answered Prayers. With warmth and wisdom, Asha helps us see how spiritual teaching can be woven into daily, ordinary life. She offers practical, real-life examples to guide us, encouragement, and support for the journey of life. Her teachings are non-sectarian — sharing the truths that unite the great religions; her Sunday Services are based on texts from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. “Good company is essential on the spiritual path. Whether your energy will move inward toward God, or outward toward the world, is determined, to a large extent, by the company you keep.” —Paramhansa Yogananda http://www.nayaswamiasha.org

Holly Stephey and Author Caren Haines , Silently Seizing! New Book !

Silently Seizing is a breakthrough new book that explores what most doctors won’t tell you about autism that in some cases, the symptoms of autism are caused by seizures that are undetectable with standard diagnostic tools. The stealth relationship between autism and seizures has been hidden until very recently, and today, innovative clinicians and researchers acknowledge that in order to accurately diagnose autism, it is imperative to look for seizure activity in the brain. It is a sad fact that many children diagnosed with autism do not receive effective treatment because the seizure element is not addressed. The doctors who have generously shared their wisdom in this book all of whom are noted experts in their fields  have seen first-hand that children show measurable gains when treated early for seizures. Many such children actually end up “losing” their autism diagnosis, replacing it with a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), which is easily manageable with the right medications. If an unrecognized seizure disorder turns out to be the culprit, then treating it can produce a miracle of healing. Up to 50% of all children diagnosed with with autism have undiagnosed seizure disorders, to a great extent because they are difficult to diagnose and due to a lack of awareness and understanding. Caren Haines, with renowned behavioral child neurologist Nancy Minshew, MD, is determined to change that. At age two, author Caren Haines' son was diagnosed with autism. By the time he was 12, his diagnosis didn't account for his uncontrollable aggression, the acrid smells that lingered in his mind and the odd voices that screamed at him from inside his head. By the time he was 18, his out-of-control behavior mirrored a mood disorder with psychotic features. Silently Seizing begins with a close-up look at this family's journey and examines a disorder that cannot always be identified in a clinical setting.
